"In a world that wants to strip you of your humanity,
hold each other close. The love you radiate is deeper
than the wounds they try to inflict."
Isamar Medina (AKA Kawaii Suga) is a Mexican-American, Chicago South Side native. Her art explores the hypocritical social taboos women face, subverting ideas of femininity and control. Her goal is to help empower women and other artists still trying to find their voice. The name of this blend is a nod to Gloria Anzaldúa, an American scholar of Chicana cultural theory, feminist theory, and queer theory, and Gloria Steinem, an American feminist, journalist, and social-political activist.
A natural processed Pacas from Finca Las Marias is the foundation coffee for this blend. The Pacas trees are planted in a valley to protect them from the high winds on the mountain and are surrounded by the Sampacho trees, a natural barrier protecting them from both the wind and Roya. We paired the juicy, berry notes of the Pacas with another natural processed coffee, a Sarchimor from El Rosario to bring a brighter, more citrusy fruit component to the blend
