Bo & Luke Barrel Aged Catuai
This product is unavailable
It's been several weeks since our last barrel aged coffee release, so we wanted to make sure this one was special. The idea came to call up our southern brethren at Against the Grain Brewery in Louisville to get some barrels from their Bo & Luke release.
When not running from the law, ATGB makes some damn tasty. They took the ingredients in bourbon whiskey (Barley, Rye, Corn) and then smoked them with cherry wood and brewed a huge imperial stout with them. Then to top it off they aged it in Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon Barrels. The resulting beer was rich, smokey and complex, with a bourbon character of caramel, vanilla and spice.
We played on the sweetness of the bourbon and beer, adding a yellow honey processed catuai from Maria de Louves farm in Nicaragua. The results are a highly intense sweetness, bursting with watermelon, bubblegum and pear notes. The body of the coffee is still deep and rich, with the candy sweetness pumping your taste buds like they were on a sugar buzz.
