Grid Blaster 66 (July Limited Blend)
Grid Blaster represents our anniversary blend, which always references a firework, (ie. Cherry Bomb, Dragon Eggs, Whistlin' Kitty Chaser, etc) and this year is no exception.
Chicago's grid system can feel like a labyrinth, but for 11 years and counting, Star Lounge Coffee Bar has been the bright beacon that disrupts the maze and blasts dreams into the new frontiers. Grind Blaster 66 is a tribute to our Chicago Avenue neighbors and reflects our passion to use coffee to make people happy.
Grid Blaster's artwork is a section extracted from Ben Ezra's Street Level project. The idea began as simple phrase, "Street Level", followed by a honest search for words or images to express the least abstract truths to millions of people who travel along this section of Chicago.
From 2010-2015, Ben drew a 160’ x 7”, street level view of the Southside of Chicago Avenue, a 4.5 mile journey from Humboldt Park to a distant glimpse of Navy Pier at Lake Michigan. This hyper-focused, full-color panoramic illustration was sketched live on location, with intricate details capturing every adjoining property spanning the long stretches of concrete.
Our three-part blend is composed of two honey processed coffees, so expect an explosion of body and sweetness in the cup. The third coffee is a washed Catimor with an uncharacteristically fruity highlight, creating syrupy sweet notes of brown sugar, nectarine and satsuma orange.
