Big Hugs (Limited Blend)


The coffee companion of Half Acre's 2018 Big Hugs Imperial Stout , the annual collaboration beer and coffee stout, now in its 10th, *gasp* year, this release is yet another new taste supreme. Big Hugs coffee is just as special as the beer release, using an amalgamation of extraction methods used in the previous Big Hugs beer variants.

For this year's release, we used two coffees and the aforementioned extraction methods. The coffee we used for a majority of the extraction methods was the Bourbon Washed, grown by Federico Pacas on his immaculate farm of Santa Petrona in El Salvador. A consistent and well balanced coffee, with a rich chocolate forward profile, and hint of acidity, resulting in a clean delicious cup.

The remainder of the extraction, used in the Big Hugs Barrel Aged variant, was completed with Guatemalan Catuai that has been conditioned in 2018 Bourbon Barrel Aged Big Hugs. Yes, we went full circle on that one!  This conditioned Catuai compliments the Santa Petrona Bourbon Washed by bringing sweet, fruity notes to this blend
