Woodford Reserve Barrel Aged Gesha (8oz)


Remember the Lycantaur Speed that we bottled for Dark Lord Day? This is the base coffee that was used to brew up that floral and unique potion. While the green coffee was still in a porous and malleable state, we introduced these fine Gesha Honey beans to a Woodford Reserve Double oaked barrel. We went all out on this one by pairing a fantastic coffee with a rich, flavorful bourbon barrel. This created a fusion of flavors, pulling the floral, tea-like qualities of the Gesha and layering in the boozy, fruity notes from the barrel aging process. 

Gesha began as a wild Ethiopian genetic and was brought to Central America in the 1950's. This coffee was distributed across Panama and Costa Rica, but it wasn't until a Best of Panama competition in the early 2000's that this coffee started to receive raving reviews.  Farmers struggled to cultivate this coffee due to the fragile structure of this tree, and low yields. High demand and low yields has driven the cost of this coffee up exponentially, but we are able to share a taste of this coffee with fellow coffee lovers at a fair price. 

Our friends at Finca San Jeronimo have found corner of the world were this coffee can thrive in their rich, volcanic soil. Gesha stands out in a lineup of other coffees for its delicate floral and tea-like qualities. Combining the high price of this coffee itself with the barrel aging process makes this bag one of the most expensive bags we've sold, especially in 8oz bags, however is a great gift idea for a special occasion, or a fun treat for coffee lovers!
